Key Updates:
- Cancellation of Stray Vacancy Round: The Directorate of Medical Education, West Bengal has cancelled the physical stray vacancy round for NEET UG medical and dental counselling. This decision was made due to an ‘inadvertent’ error. Consequently, no additional round will be conducted after the three main counselling rounds.
- Revised Minimum Marks for PWD Candidates: The minimum required marks in the qualifying examination for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology for PWD candidates have been revised to 40% instead of 50% as per NMC and DCI regulations.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Academic Requirements: Candidates must have completed their class 12 examination or an equivalent from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects.
- Minimum Marks:
- General Category: At least 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
- SC/ST/OBC Categories: At least 40% marks.
- Age Requirement: Candidates must be at least 17 years old as of December 31, 2024. There is no upper age limit for NEET UG.
Counselling Schedule:
- Counselling Start Date: August 20, 2024, after 4 PM (information brochure published).
- Registration Period: August 21, 2024 (1 PM) to August 23, 2024 (midnight).
- Choice Filling and Locking: August 27 to August 29, 2024.
- First Round Seat Allotment Result: September 2, 2024.
- Reporting to Allotted Institutes: September 3 to September 5, 2024.
- Round 2 Online Registration: September 11 to September 13, 2024.

- Mode: Offline, pen and paper-based.
- Question Type: Multiple-choice questions.
