Delhi University Admission Update: Supernumerary Quota and Current Counselling Status

The admission process at Delhi University (DU) is nearing completion with two rounds of counselling already concluded and the third round commencing on August 31, 2024. DU has introduced a supernumerary quota to support students impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This quota includes:

  • 764 Seats for Single Girl Child Applicants: One seat per program across DU colleges.
  • 132 Seats for Orphans: One seat for a male and one for a female student in all programs.

Current Admission Status

  • Confirmed Admissions: 74,108 in the upgrade round.
  • Total Undergraduate Seats Available: 71,600.
  • Upgrade Applications: 28,810 students.
  • Frozen Admissions: 45,298 applicants.

The upgrade window was open from August 31 to September 1.

Current Phase of Admission

The ongoing admission phase includes:

  • Performance-Based Programs
  • Supernumerary Quotas: This includes quotas for children of widows of armed forces personnel (CW), special achievements in extracurricular activities (ECA), and sports.

Allocation Details

  • ECA Allocations: 1,061 seats.
  • Sports Allocations: 1,648 seats.
  • Performance-Based Allocations: 332 seats.
  • BFA and CW Categories: Seat allotment lists are pending and will be released soon.

The third round of CSAS (Common Seat Allocation System) allocation and information on vacancies are expected to be announced on September 11, 2024.

Several colleges have admitted more students than available vacancies due to high demand for certain programs, including:

  • BCom Honours
  • Political Science Honours
  • English Honours
  • History Honours
