Meerut, Uttar Pradesh – A remarkable success story is making waves as Shivangi Saxena, a recent graduate of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Agricultural University, receives widespread acclaim for her academic achievements. During the university’s convocation ceremony, held on September 5, 2024, Shivangi was honored with three prestigious medals, including the Chancellor’s Gold Medal, the Vice Chancellor Silver Medal, and the Sarita Memorial Gold Medal.

Achievements and Recognition: Shivangi, who hails from Meerut, completed her BTech in Agricultural Engineering. Her exceptional performance in her field earned her the highest honors from the Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Anandiben Patel. The Governor, who presided over the ceremony, lauded Shivangi’s accomplishments and presented her with the three medals in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the field of agriculture.

In total, 254 students were awarded undergraduate degrees, 9 received postgraduate degrees, and 7 were honored with doctoral degrees. The ceremony saw a total of 20 medals distributed, with female students winning 14 of these awards. Shivangi Saxena’s achievement of three medals, including the Chancellor’s Gold Medal, sets her apart as a standout scholar of the year.

New Initiatives and Commitments: The convocation also marked a significant development for the university as it signed a groundbreaking agreement with the Directorate General of Ex-Servicemen Rehabilitation. This agreement will provide 21 days of specialized training to retired or retiring soldiers, making Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Agricultural University the first agricultural university in India to undertake such a collaboration.

Governor Anandiben Patel, during her address, emphasized the importance of applying agricultural knowledge practically and encouraged students to take advantage of government startup schemes. She also highlighted the Niti Aayog’s recommendation for the country to become self-sufficient in edible oil and urged the university’s scientists and students to contribute to this goal.
