In the village of Hajaripura, Karauli, Rajasthan, Shantanu Parashar, a government school teacher affectionately known as “Gabbar Master,” has made a remarkable impact on the lives of his students. Traveling 16 kilometers from his home, Parashar goes above and beyond by visiting students’ homes, creating personalized study timetables, and checking on their progress, ensuring they stay on the right educational path.

Appointed as a senior teacher in 2010 at the Government Senior Upadhyay Sanskrit School, Parashar recognized the challenges facing the students, including a lack of resources and diminished self-esteem regarding their education. Determined to change this, he implemented an innovative approach, even staying overnight with students during exam periods to provide them with the support they needed.

His dedication has transformed the school. When Parashar first arrived, there were only 156 students enrolled. Thanks to his efforts, not only did enrollment increase, but students also began excelling academically, securing higher marks across all subjects.

Beyond academics, Parashar’s daily campaigns focus on promoting environmental awareness and patriotism among the students. Additionally, he has adopted several financially disadvantaged children, providing them with essential supplies and educational resources to ensure they do not miss out on opportunities due to their circumstances.

Shantanu Parashar’s relentless commitment to his students has become a source of inspiration, turning him into a beloved figure in the community and a role model for educators everywhere
