Schools in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Delhi will remain closed on Monday, September 16, to observe Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi. Educational institutions in Andhra Pradesh and Delhi are set to reopen on Tuesday, September 17. The state school management authority has informed institutions about these changes.
In Maharashtra, the government has rescheduled the Eid-e-Milad holiday from Monday, September 16, to Wednesday, September 18. The shift was made following requests from Muslim community leaders, who plan to hold processions on September 18 to avoid clashing with the Ganpati immersion ceremonies on Anant Chaturdashi. While schools in Haryana will be closed for Eid-e-Milad, Punjab has not yet declared the holiday.
Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, also known as Maulid, commemorates the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad. It is observed in the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar, Rabi-ul-Awwal, and is marked by reflection on the Prophet’s teachings and remembrance of his life and passing.
Meanwhile, in Bhubaneswar, all schools and colleges will be closed on Tuesday, September 17, due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state. In addition to educational institutions, government offices, including revenue and magisterial courts, will be closed for the first half of the day. During his visit, the Prime Minister is expected to launch the ‘Subhadra’ yojana, a women-centric scheme introduced by the Odisha state government.
