The Odisha government has announced that all schools and colleges in Bhubaneswar will remain closed on September 17 in anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state. Additionally, government offices, including revenue and magisterial courts in the state capital, will be closed for the first half of the day.

Key Points:

  • PM Modi’s Visit: The Prime Minister will visit Bhubaneswar to launch the ‘Subhadra’ yojana, a women-centric scheme initiated by the state government.
  • Event Venue: The launch event will be held at Janata Maidan between noon and 1 pm.
  • Crowd Management: Approximately 50 Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officers have been assigned to manage the crowd during the PM’s visit.
  • Security Measures:
    • Janata Maidan has been designated as a ‘no flying zone’ and ‘no drone zone’ for security reasons.
    • Special Protection Group (SPG) personnel have already arrived in Bhubaneswar for the event.
    • Extensive security arrangements have been put in place by Odisha Police, and a high-level meeting was conducted to oversee preparations.
  • Preparation Oversight: The Khurda District Collector has been tasked with ensuring necessary arrangements for the event. Senior police officers, along with officials from the home and women and child development departments, have inspected the venue.

The ruling BJP is aiming to make the Prime Minister’s visit and the launch of the ‘Subhadra’ yojana a significant and successful event.
