The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) has announced the launch of its online hunter education course in Spanish, making it more accessible for the state’s Spanish-speaking population. Missouri’s online education provider, Kalkomey Enterprises, LLC, has developed the Spanish version, which is now available through the MDC.

Spanish is the most commonly spoken non-English language in Missouri, with nearly 4% of Missourians either exclusively speaking Spanish or having limited proficiency in English. Key features of this Spanish-language course include the same curriculum as the English version, approved by the International Hunter Education Association, along with a user-friendly language selection tool that allows students to switch between English and Spanish. The course also offers certified translations and Spanish-speaking customer support.

While online courses are available in Spanish, the in-person Hunter Education Skills Sessions will continue to be conducted in English. Hunter education certification is mandatory for individuals 16 years or older who plan to hunt with firearms in Missouri, with few exceptions. The MDC has certified over 1.4 million people since the program began, contributing to a 70% reduction in firearm-related hunting incidents.

The Spanish version of the Missouri Hunter Safety course can be accessed through the MDC’s official website.
