Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu visited Dr. Radha Krishnan Government Medical College in Hamirpur on Saturday and announced the installation of modern medical equipment on the campus. The state government is actively addressing the shortage of doctors and paramedical staff at the college. According to Sukhu, efforts are being made to recruit professors, associate professors, assistant professors, and other teaching staff, with walk-in interviews planned to fill vacant posts.

The new campus, being developed at Jol Sappad near Hamirpur town at a cost of over ₹400 crore, will house 292 beds and feature state-of-the-art medical equipment. The Chief Minister further added that 150 staff nurses have already been approved for deployment, with additional paramedical staff to follow based on the college’s needs.

Sukhu also shared plans for the second phase of the project, which will include a 300-bed medical block, a state cancer hospital, a super-speciality facility, and a nursing college. These developments aim to provide top-tier healthcare services while offering a better working environment for medical professionals.
