Mahatman Foundation’s Efforts to Enhance Education in Villages Around Lavasa

Villages around Lavasa city face significant educational challenges due to their remote locations and limited resources. Many families cannot afford to send their children to better schools in Pune, leading to a lack of encouragement for higher studies. This is particularly true for girls, who often stop their education after the eighth grade due to the absence of higher classes in Marathi medium schools. The only English medium school in the area, run by Lavasa authority, serves children from all surrounding villages, but the young population here requires more educational facilities and quality teaching.

Mahatman Foundation, active in this region since the pandemic in 2020, recently conducted a second drive of notebook and stationery distribution to students in Bhoini, Kolshi, Ramnagar, Dasve, Mugaon, and Dhamnovhal villages. The school kits included materials such as notebooks, pens, pencils, drawing books, colors, and compass boxes, tailored to different educational levels (primary, secondary, and higher secondary). The excitement and enthusiasm in the children’s eyes were evident, highlighting how a small act of kindness can significantly encourage and impact their lives through community service.

Sudhir Adettiwar, the founder of Mahatman Foundation, a Geotech engineer, and entrepreneur, shared his thoughts: “It was through the support of scholarships by organizations like Tata and Birla that I could complete my studies abroad and enjoy the success by hard work today. Hence it is important for people like me to keep up the legacy of such good work. Change the life, if you can, of at least one child for good.” Reflecting this vision, the foundation also distributed scholarship forms to support selected bright minds from underprivileged families for their future studies. The ultimate aim is to empower every child through education.

Established in 2020, Mahatman Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing humanity through education, mentorship, fitness, and advanced scientific research. To learn more about their initiatives, visit www.mahatmanfoundation.org.
