An extraordinary mix of joy and sorrow was witnessed during the two-day convocation at Shri Agrasen College, Howrah, the state’s first self-financed college. While students celebrated receiving official certificates and honors marking their academic success, they were also deeply emotional as they bid farewell to a place they had called home for years. The auditorium was filled with a poignant blend of happiness for the accomplishments and sorrow for parting ways with the institution.
In this dual-phase ceremony, more than 500 students from BA, B.Sc, B.Com, and BBA programs were honored with certificates, marking the successful completion of their academic journey. The college’s Chairman, Mr. Mahavir Prasad Saraf, emphasized how this event was a testament to the goals behind the founding of Shri Agrasen College. He expressed his pride in the students’ achievements and wished them great success in their future endeavors, encouraging them to contribute significantly to society and the nation.
Principal Mrs. Shobhonita Dutta and Professor Nibir Goswami, in charge of the morning session, shared their joy in celebrating the students’ accomplishments. They expressed their hopes for the students to embark on a strong new beginning and reach the pinnacle of success in their careers.

Several students highlighted the college’s efforts in providing financial concessions and scholarships, particularly through the Bimla Devi Saraf Memorial Scholarship, which helped ease the path of higher education for many in difficult times.
