Aligarh Muslim University’s (AMU) Department of Education recently organized an eight-day online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) aimed at enhancing the teaching and research skills of faculty members across various academic disciplines. The programme, which featured 16 sessions, focused on the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, multidisciplinary education, and advanced research methodologies.
Prof. Mujibul Hasan Siddiqui, Chairman of the Department of Education, welcomed participants and guest speakers, emphasizing the FDP’s objective to equip faculty with tools to adapt to modern educational strategies. Prof. Shafey Kidwai, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, highlighted the importance of equipping educators with skills to implement innovative teaching techniques.
Key sessions covered a wide range of topics, including the role of yoga in mental and physical well-being by Prof. Zamirullah Khan, and the development of MOOCs for digital learning platforms such as SWAYAM by Prof. Aasim Zafar. Prof. S. M. Khan discussed the use of Generative AI in research, while Dr. Mohammad Shaheer Siddiqui explored the educational potential of cinema and literature.
The programme also delved into practical research and teaching techniques. Prof. Akthar Parveen guided participants in designing research proposals, and Dr. Haseeb Athar conducted sessions on data analysis using SPSS. The role of Indian Knowledge Systems in the NEP 2020 framework was discussed by Prof. Gunjan Dubey, and Dr. Arshad Husain stressed the importance of environmental consciousness in education.
The FDP concluded with a valedictory session led by Prof. Mohammad Miyan, Former Vice-Chancellor of Maulana Azad National Urdu University. Dr. Mohammad Hanif Ahmad, Programme Coordinator, extended a vote of thanks, acknowledging the diverse expertise shared throughout the programme.
