ANTHONY, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — The Anthony Independent School District (AISD) has received a prestigious district-wide honor from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for its dedication to supporting military-connected families and their children.
All campuses within the district, including Anthony Elementary School, Anthony Middle School, and Anthony High School, have been designated as 2024 Purple Star campuses. This recognition is awarded to schools that demonstrate a strong commitment to addressing the unique needs of military-connected students and their families.
“We are honored to receive this recognition,” said AISD Superintendent Dr. Oscar Troncoso. “We understand that the sacrifices made by service members also impact their families, and our staff is dedicated to providing emotional, academic, and peer support to honor their resilience.”
To achieve the Purple Star designation, schools must meet specific criteria set by the TEA. This includes establishing a military liaison, maintaining a student ambassador program, and offering resources to help military students navigate challenges such as parental deployment or frequent relocations.
The designation will remain valid for two years, reflecting AISD’s ongoing commitment to support military families in the community.
