Bundelkhand University, Jhansi, has announced an exciting new initiative for those interested in regional art and dialects. Starting in January, the university will offer a one-year diploma course in Bundelkhand painting and a six-month certificate course in Bundeli dialect through its Fine Arts Department.
This initiative aims to preserve Bundelkhand’s rich folk art and cultural heritage while engaging the youth with the state’s traditions. To enroll, candidates must have completed their 12th grade education. The diploma course will combine theoretical and practical studies, including specialized instruction on creating Bundeli art and painting.
Dr. Shweta Pandey, Coordinator of the Fine Arts Department, highlighted that the course will provide in-depth knowledge on Bundeli art, including practical techniques.
Professor Munna Tiwari emphasized that the approach is similar to how Indology is taught globally. The new certificate course in Bundeli dialect will cover its linguistic features, cultural context, and historical significance, aiming to conserve and promote the dialect.
These courses will offer learners an opportunity to explore regional language and traditions in depth, strengthening the connection between academic institutions and local communities, and fostering greater appreciation for Bundeli cultural contributions.
