On September 3, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted a surprise inspection of 27 affiliated schools in Rajasthan and New Delhi. This initiative aimed to tackle the issue of dummy schools and ensure that CBSE-affiliated institutions adhere strictly to the board’s guidelines.

Details of the Inspection:

  • Scope: The inspection involved 27 teams, each comprising a CBSE officer and a Principal from a CBSE-affiliated school.
  • Method: Inspections were planned and executed simultaneously across all selected schools to maintain the element of surprise and ensure accurate reflection of everyday operations.
  • Objective: To gather precise information on school operations and compliance with CBSE regulations.

CBSE emphasized its commitment to maintaining high educational standards and ensuring that affiliated schools comply with its regulations. The board stated, “The findings from these inspections will be reviewed comprehensively, and appropriate actions will be taken in cases of non-compliance.” CBSE reaffirmed its dedication to strict oversight and will continue conducting unannounced inspections to uphold quality and standards.

New Initiative: Composite Skill Labs

In alignment with the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE), CBSE announced the launch of “Composite Skill Labs” to enhance skill-based education in its affiliated schools. This initiative aims to integrate education with industry demands and promote practical learning.

  • Requirements: CBSE schools must establish either two separate laboratories (one for Classes 11 and 12, and one for Classes 6 through 10) or a single composite skill lab for Classes 6 through 12.
  • Size and Facilities: Each lab should be at least 600 square feet, fully equipped with necessary instruments and technology to provide an extensive learning environment.

This effort addresses the current lack of infrastructure and resources in many CBSE schools, ensuring that students receive practical and relevant skill development opportunities.
