The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a notification directing all CBSE-affiliated schools to continue using the same textbooks for most classes as in the previous academic year (2023-24), with exceptions for classes III and VI. The curriculum for the academic year 2024-25 remains unchanged for other classes, ensuring consistency in academic content, syllabus, and assessment guidelines.

CBSE provides a comprehensive annual curriculum for classes IX to XII, encompassing academic content, examination syllabi, learning outcomes, pedagogical practices, and assessment guidelines. Schools are required to adhere strictly to the curriculum directives specified in the initial pages of the curriculum document, incorporating methodologies such as Multilingualism, Art-Integrated Education, Experiential Learning, and Pedagogical Plans where feasible.

Affiliated schools are encouraged to adopt the National Curriculum Framework for School Education – 2023 (NCF-SE-2023) and align their educational practices with its recommendations. This framework outlines guidelines for content, pedagogical strategies, assessment methods, and other relevant areas as communicated periodically by CBSE.

For classes III and VI, CBSE has introduced new syllabi and textbooks, replacing those previously published by NCERT up to 2023. NCERT is developing a bridge course for class VI and concise guidelines for class III to facilitate a smooth transition for students, aligning with the pedagogical practices and areas of study outlined in NCF-SE-2023.

To support these educational reforms, CBSE plans to conduct capacity-building programmes for school heads and teachers. These initiatives aim to orient educators towards new teaching-learning perspectives envisioned in the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP-2020), fostering enhanced educational outcomes across CBSE-affiliated schools.
