CSIR Announces Results for Joint UGC NET June 2024: Over 3,000 Candidates Qualified

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has released the results for the Joint CSIR – University Grants Commission (UGC) National Eligibility Test (NET) for June 2024, which assesses candidates for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and eligibility for the Assistant Professor position. Key Outcomes from the June 2024 Exam

  • Total Candidates Qualified:
    A total of 3,172 candidates have qualified for the exam, making them eligible for the Assistant Professor role and admission to PhD programs.
  • Breakdown of Qualifications:
    • Category 1 (JRF): 1,963 candidates have qualified for the Junior Research Fellowship, also making them eligible for the Assistant Professor position.
    • Clause 2.1.1 Candidates: Only 11 candidates qualified for the JRF under this clause but are not eligible for the Assistant Professor post.
    • UGC JRF Scheme: 1,875 candidates qualified under the UGC JRF scheme, making them eligible for both the JRF and the Assistant Professor role.
  • PhD Program Admissions:
    In addition to the above, 10,969 candidates are eligible solely for admission to the PhD programs.

Validity and Weightage of Marks

For candidates qualified under Category 2 and Category 3, the marks obtained in the NET will be valid for one year from the result declaration date. The admission to PhD programs will be based on a combined merit score, with the following weightage:

  • NET Marks: 70%
  • Interview/Viva Voce Performance: 30%

It is important to note that the results are declared under the interim order of the High Court of Punjab and Haryana, pending the outcome of an appeal related to the CSIR vs. Ramandeep Kaur case (LPA-2243-2017).
