The Firozabad education department is set to launch new facilities to support handicapped children in council schools under the Integrated Education for Handicapped Children program. With a budget of several lakhs of rupees, the initiative will initially benefit two blocks in the district—Jasrana and Madanpur.

Key Initiatives:

  • Resource Rooms: Dedicated spaces will be established in these blocks to provide essential services such as speech therapy, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy. Each room will be constructed with an allocation of around two lakh rupees.
  • Therapy and Support Services: The resource rooms will offer:
    • Speech Therapy: To assist children with language difficulties.
    • Occupational Therapy: To help children develop daily life skills.
    • Physiotherapy: To address physical disabilities with the aid of new equipment.
    • Functional Assessments: To understand and cater to each child’s specific needs.
    • Parent Counselling: To educate and support parents in managing their child’s care at home.

Implementation and Future Plans:

  • Initial Launch: The resource rooms will be set up in primary schools in the Jasrana and Madanpur blocks.
  • Expansion: There are plans to extend these facilities to other blocks in the district in the future.
  • Trained Personnel: The initiative will include hiring trained physiotherapists to ensure that children receive comprehensive care.

This significant step forward aims to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for handicapped children in Firozabad, providing them with the education and physical and emotional support necessary for their development.
