India-Sweden Collaboration in Research and Innovation Highlighted at 11th Innovation Day

New Delhi, October 14, 2024: Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, underscored the importance of strengthening India-Sweden collaboration in research and innovation while virtually addressing the 11th India-Sweden Innovation Day yesterday. Dr. Singh emphasized that India is making rapid strides in innovation, achieving notable rankings on global indices.

In this year’s Global Innovation Index (GII), India ranked 1st among the 10 economies in Central and Southern Asia and 39th among the 133 global economies. Dr. Singh pointed out that Sweden remains one of the global leaders in innovation, making it a key partner in India’s research and technological growth.

The Minister highlighted that research and innovation are critical elements that enhance the flourishing partnership between India and Sweden. He also reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of achieving a net-zero carbon footprint by 2070, calling on Sweden to collaborate in this mission and help meet sustainability goals through joint research initiatives.
