A 25-year-old MBA student tragically died on Sunday after allegedly committing suicide by jumping from the seventh floor of his hostel at IP University in southwest Delhi, according to police reports.
The Delhi Police stated that they received a distress call at 6:20 pm at Dwarka North Police Station, reporting the incident. Upon reaching the scene, authorities identified the deceased as Gautam Kumar, a resident of Vaishali, Bihar, and a first-year MBA student at the university’s main campus in Sector-16.
Police reported that Kumar allegedly jumped from the seventh floor of the hostel building. His body was transferred to DDU Hospital for postmortem. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death is currently underway.
Although there has been no official response from the university administration, sources revealed that Kumar had been upset after being expelled from the hostel for celebrating a birthday party. In response to the incident, some of his classmates reportedly protested, raising slogans against the university administration.
