In a significant development announced on Hindi Diwas, both the Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh governments have decided to introduce Hindi as an optional language for MBBS programs in their state medical colleges from the academic session 2025-26. This follows Madhya Pradesh’s introduction of MBBS programs in Hindi in 2023.

Rajasthan:

  • Implementation Timeline: The change will be phased in, starting with Sampurnanand Medical College in Jodhpur and Medical College in Barmer, both affiliated with Marwar Medical University.
  • Starting Session: Hindi will be offered as an option from the 2024-25 academic session.
  • Official Statement: Gayatri Rathore, Principal Secretary of the Medical Education Department, confirmed that students enrolling in these colleges for the 2024-25 session will have the option to study in Hindi. The initiative aligns with the state’s budget provisions for medical education.

Chhattisgarh:

  • Implementation Timeline: The MBBS course in Chhattisgarh will be available in Hindi starting from the ongoing academic session 2024-25.
  • Official Statement: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced that Hindi will be introduced in the MBBS course with Hindi books and study materials provided from the first year of this session. The health department has been instructed to arrange these resources.

These measures aim to make medical education more accessible to students who are more comfortable with Hindi, potentially improving understanding and performance in their studies.
