MCC Announces Tentative Schedule for NEET UG Counselling 2024

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has released the tentative schedule for NEET UG counselling 2024, which will commence on August 14 for MBBS, BDS, and BSc (Nursing) candidates.

Key Dates for Round 1:

  • Registration Period: August 14 – August 21, 2024
  • Choice Filling and Locking: August 16 – August 20, 2024
  • Seat Allotment Processing: August 21 – August 22, 2024
  • Results Announcement: August 23, 2024
  • Reporting and Joining at Colleges: August 24 – August 29, 2024
  • Verification for Late Joining Candidates: August 30 – August 31, 2024

The MCC will conduct NEET UG counselling for the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats in government medical colleges and 100% seats in AMU, BHU, JMI, and ESIC. The counselling process will consist of three rounds followed by one stray vacancy round.

Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Anupriya Patel, confirmed in the Rajya Sabha that there will be four rounds of counselling as per the Supreme Court’s order. The fourth round is expected to conclude on October 24, 2024.

Additional Information:

  • Total MBBS Seats Available: Approximately 1.10 lakh across 710 medical colleges in India.
  • Total BDS Seats Available: 21,000
  • Seats for Ayush and Nursing Courses: Included in the counselling process.

Growth in Medical Education:

  • The number of medical colleges has increased by 88% from 387 in 2014 to 731 in 2024.
  • The number of MBBS seats has risen by 118% from 51,348 in 2014 to 1,12,112 in 2024.

This enhanced availability of medical education resources reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to expanding healthcare education and increasing the number of medical professionals in the country.
