On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, 50 educators from across India will be honoured with the National Teachers Award 2024 by President Draupadi Murmu. The ceremony will take place at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi at 4:15 PM on September 5, 2024. These exemplary teachers will receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000, along with a silver medal and certificate.
The National Teachers Award aims to recognize outstanding contributions by educators in shaping students’ lives and positively impacting India’s education system. The award is open to teachers from colleges, universities, higher educational institutions, and polytechnics. Faculty members who demonstrate innovation and excellence in teaching are encouraged to apply for this prestigious recognition.
The Ministry of Education expressed the significance of the award on social media, noting that it celebrates teachers who have enhanced the quality of education and enriched their students’ lives through their dedication.
Selection Process:
The selection for the National Teachers Award follows a two-step process:
- Preliminary screening through a search and screening committee.
- Final selection by a jury from the shortlisted candidates.
In 2023, a total of 75 teachers received the award, including 50 school teachers, 13 from higher education, and 12 from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
This event highlights the crucial role teachers play in shaping the future of the nation, as their efforts directly contribute to building a strong educational foundation for students.
