The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), an autonomous body under the Union health ministry, successfully conducted the NEET-PG 2024 on Sunday, August 11, in two shifts across 416 centres in 170 cities. The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Post Graduate (NEET-PG) is a crucial medical entrance exam in India.

Originally scheduled for June 23, 2024, the exam was postponed as a precautionary measure due to concerns regarding the integrity of certain competitive exams. To ensure the selection of the best and most reputed centres for the exam, it was conducted in two shifts on the same day.

Key Details of the Examination:

  • Admit Cards Issued: 2,28,540 candidates received admit cards for the exam.
  • Examination Centres: Candidates were allocated centres within their states wherever possible.
  • Command Centre: A central command centre was established at the NBEMS Dwarka Office in Delhi. Officials from the Union health ministry and NBEMS, along with the board’s executive director, monitored the exam closely to ensure its smooth conduct.
  • Personnel Deployed: More than 1,950 independent appraisers and 300 flying squad members were present at the examination centres to oversee the process.
  • Regional Command Centres: Eight regional command centres were set up to supervise the nationwide examination.

Misinformation Prevention and Security Measures:

NBEMS took stringent measures to prevent misinformation about the examination by closely monitoring social media and ensuring that only authentic information was provided to stakeholders. The coordinated efforts of various agencies and heightened security measures contributed to the safe and smooth conduct of the NEET-PG 2024, thereby maintaining the examination’s integrity.
