Children from low-income families in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, will soon have access to recognized non-aided modern schools, thanks to a new initiative announced by the Director General of School Education, Kanchan Verma. A total of 25 seats in Class 1 have been reserved for these students, with the admission process set to begin on December 1.

This year, the admissions will be conducted in four phases, concluding by March 27, 2025. In contrast to last year’s timeline, which started on January 20 and ended on February 18, the new schedule aims to facilitate earlier admissions and ensure students start attending school by April 1, 2025. Parents must apply online, and the Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) will oversee the process according to the allotment list from recognized private schools.

To guarantee that all applicants are enrolled, block-wise nodal officers will be appointed, and help desks will be established at key locations, including the District Magistrate’s office and Community Health Centers, to assist parents unable to apply online.

Mandatory documents for the admission process include:

  • Annual income certificate (parents must earn less than ₹1 lakh)
  • Residence certificate
  • Caste certificate (for reserved categories)
  • Disability certificate (if applicable)
  • Child’s birth certificate

The admission process will unfold in four phases:

  • Phase 1: Applications from December 1 to December 29; lottery on December 24.
  • Phase 2: Applications from January 1 to January 19; lottery on January 24.
  • Phase 3: Applications from February 1 to February 19; lottery on February 24.
  • Phase 4: Applications from March 1 to March 19; lottery on March 24.

This initiative will expand opportunities for students, allowing admissions across 1,111 private schools, each accommodating 25% of the enrolled students without any fees for admission or education. BSA Vimlesh Kumar has urged parents to apply promptly to secure their child’s spot, as the admissions will be conducted via a lottery system. The department will continue to provide updates on school allocations as per the designated timeline.
