Punjab Education Department Organizes Mega Parent-Teacher Meetings Across 20,000 Schools

In a major effort to engage with parents and improve communication between schools and families, the Punjab Education Department organized mega parent-teacher meetings (PTMs) across 20,000 schools. Nearly 27 lakh parents attended the event, which marked a significant milestone in the state’s education system.

Chief Minister Highlights Educational Reforms at PTM

At one of the PTMs held at the School of Eminence in Nangal (Ropar), Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann highlighted the progressive changes happening in Punjab’s government schools. He emphasized the adoption of best practices from private institutions and discussed several initiatives aimed at improving the quality of education.

The CM outlined key developments, including the Leadership Development Programme, where six batches of principals and education officers were sent to Singapore for training, and 72 primary teachers attended professional development programs in Finland. He also mentioned that 152 headmasters and education officers received training at IIM Ahmedabad.

The CM further emphasized the recruitment of 10,361 teachers since April 2022, the regularization of 12,316 employees, and the allocation of Rs 82 crore for improving school safety and cleanliness. Additionally, 118 government schools are being transformed into state-of-the-art Schools of Eminence.

In a broader effort to enhance technology in education, a Rs 29-crore budget has been allotted for high-speed fiber WiFi in all government schools. Furthermore, transport facilities have been provided for Schools of Eminence and 17 girls’ senior secondary schools.
