Punjab Governor Stresses the Importance of Quality Education and Safety for Girls

Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria underscored the need for quality education and safety for girls during the golden jubilee celebrations of Prem Chand Markanda SD College for Women in Jalandhar. Addressing the audience, the Governor called for the creation of a conducive environment to empower girls, allowing them to actively participate in all aspects of society—social, economic, cultural, and political.

Kataria stressed that education is the key to unlocking the immense potential of young women, enabling them to contribute to the nation’s progress. He praised women’s historical contributions and emphasized that they are excelling in various fields such as politics, military, police, sports, and the arts.

Celebrating Women’s Achievements

During the event, the Governor acknowledged the college’s 50-year legacy of advancing girls’ education and extended his best wishes for future success. In addition to speeches, the event featured cultural performances, including a classical music recital and the ‘Radha Krishna Raas Leela’ dance. A college souvenir was released, and young entrepreneurs were recognized under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.

Governor Kataria was honored by the college’s governing body, and Principal Pooja Prashar expressed her gratitude for his presence and support. The celebration was attended by key officials, including Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Aggarwal and other dignitaries, marking a significant milestone for the institution.
