The Indian government has announced the appointment of Rajwinder Singh Bhatti, IPS (BH:90), as the new Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Bhatti, who will hold this position until his retirement on September 30, 2025, takes over from SK Singhal, who is set to retire on December 19, 2024.
Bhatti, a 1990-batch IPS officer, previously served as the Director General of Bihar Police beginning in 2022. Before that, he was the ADG (East Command) of the Seema Suraksha Bal on central deputation. His new role at the CISF will focus on combating crime and tackling liquor smuggling issues within the state.
Popularly known as RS Bhatti, he has earned a reputation for his distinguished record in law enforcement. Bhatti first gained national recognition for his role in the high-profile arrest of former Siwan MP Md Shahabuddin in 2005. This operation was particularly notable due to Shahabuddin’s substantial political influence, which had previously thwarted attempts to apprehend him.
Throughout his career, Bhatti has served in various critical roles. He has held positions such as City SP of Patna, ASP of Barh, and SP in Jehanabad, Gopalganj, and Purnia. Additionally, he has served as DIG (Siwan), IG (Patna Zone), IG (Security), Joint Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and Director General (Civil Aviation).
Bhatti’s tenure is anticipated to bring a new level of discipline and efficiency to the CISF, leveraging his extensive experience and reputation as a no-nonsense, results-driven police officer. His appointment underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing security and improving policing standards across the nation.
