JAMMU, October 15, 2024: As part of its 90th-anniversary celebrations, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) launched the RBI90Quiz, a nationwide quiz competition targeting undergraduate students. The event, aimed at promoting general knowledge and financial literacy, is being conducted in various stages, culminating in a national final later this year.
The Jammu Regional-level round for the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh was held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Jammu, where 112 students, forming 56 teams, participated. In the presence of distinguished guests such as Additional Inspector General of Police (ADGP) Jammu Zone Anand Jain, CEO and MD of J&K Bank Baldev Prakash, and Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Jammu Professor (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, the competition saw spirited participation from colleges across the region.
The team from the Faculty of Agriculture, SKUAST Kashmir, consisting of Zaid Ul Islam Bin Riyaz and Sania Shabir Soherverdy, claimed the top prize of Rs 2 lakh. They were followed by teams from SMVDU Katra, which secured second place with Rs 1.5 lakh, and GCET Safapora, which took third place with Rs 1 lakh.
The winning team from SKUAST Kashmir will advance to the Zonal round of the quiz, scheduled between November 21, 2024, and December 4, 2024. The national finals will be held in Mumbai in December 2024, where the top teams from across India will compete for the grand prize.
The RBI90Quiz marks a significant effort by the central bank to engage the youth and encourage awareness of economic and financial matters as part of its broader outreach program during its 90th-year commemorations.
