SDSM School for Excellence Hosts CBSE Zonal Archery Championship 2024

Jamshedpur, Sep 23: SDSM School for Excellence proudly inaugurated the CBSE Zonal (East Zone) Archery Championship 2024, taking place from September 23 to 25. The event began with a ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Chief Guest Padmashri Purnima Mahato, alongside Chairman Diwakar Singh and Principal Moushumi Das.

The championship also welcomed distinguished archery champions and Olympians, including Ankita Bhagat, Bhajan Kaur, and Komolika Barik. They were joined by prominent coach B. S. Rao and observer Poonam Roy from St. Mary’s English High School.

With the participation of 49 schools and over 300 athletes from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand, the championship was a celebration of archery under the CBSE Sports flag. The atmosphere at SDSM was electrified by a vibrant performance from 400 students, who showcased a welcome dance culminating in the unveiling of “ZONAL ARCHERY” through musical drills.

Principal Moushumi Das expressed gratitude to CBSE for entrusting the event to the school, emphasizing the significant role of sports in education. Chief Guest Mahato motivated the participants, highlighting how archery—requiring immense concentration—can also enhance academic performance. She officially opened the championship by releasing the event mascot, marking the commencement of the competition.
