The Southern Railway has announced a recruitment drive to fill 2,438 apprentice positions. Interested candidates can apply online through the official portal at sr.indianrailways.gov.in. The last date to submit applications is August 12, 2024.

- Carriage and Wagon Works
- Railway Hospital/Perambur Division
- Loco Works
- Engineering Division, Arakkonam
- Electrical Workshop
- Chennai Division
- Trivandrum Division
- Palghat Division
- Salem Division
- Tiruchchirappalli Division
- Madurai Division
Eligibility Criteria
Freshers Category:
- Must have passed Class 10 and Class 12 with at least 50% marks.
Ex-ITI Category:
- Must have passed Class 10 and have an Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) Certificate.
- Additionally, an NCVT Certificate in the relevant trade is required.
Residential Requirement:
Applicants must reside in the following locations under Southern Railway’s jurisdiction:
- Tamil Nadu
- Puducherry
- Kerala
- Andaman and Nicobar Islands
- Lakshadweep Islands
- Two districts of Andhra Pradesh: SPSR Nellore and Chittoor
- One district of Karnataka: Dakshina Kannada
Age Limit
- Minimum age: 15 years
- Maximum age: 22 to 24 years
- Upper age limit relaxation:
- 3 years for OBC applicants
- 5 years for SC/ST candidates
- 10 years for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates

- Select the ‘Click Here For Apply Online’ option.
- Register yourself by providing the required information and then log in to your account.
- Fill in the application form carefully and submit the necessary documents.
- Deposit the application fee and click on Submit.
- Download the form and take a printout for future reference.
Selection Process
Candidates will be selected based on a merit list created using the following criteria:
- Percentage of Class 10 marks
- ITI marks in the trade for which the apprenticeship is to be done
Application Fee
- General/OBC/EWS categories: Rs 100
- SC/ST categories: No fee
- Female and physically handicapped candidates: No fee
