A survey conducted by ACT Educational Research Outcomes (AERO) in Karnataka highlighted significant findings regarding online learning during the pandemic. Led by Gururaj Karajagi, chairman of ACT, the study involved 2,000 respondents from Bengaluru, Belagavi, Kalaburagi, and Mysuru.

Key findings from the survey include:

  • Parental Concerns: Approximately 80% of parents and teachers expressed concerns about children’s screen time and potential gadget addiction due to online learning.
  • Parental Engagement: Only 13% of parents maintained regular communication with their children’s teachers to support their learning process.
  • Family Dynamics: While many families spent increased time together during the pandemic, only 15% of parents were consistently calm and attentive to their children’s concerns.
  • Educational Benefits: The survey indicated that interactive audio and visual mediums in online learning improved children’s cognitive skills by 40%.
  • Challenges: Parents raised concerns about the continuous electricity usage during school hours and the additional costs of internet packs required for online classes.

The survey aimed to assess various aspects of online education, including parental involvement, student engagement in primary school (classes 1–5), and technical support needs during pandemics.
