Authorities in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, have transferred a teacher from a government-run school following allegations of strip-searching girl students to find a mobile phone, an official confirmed on Saturday.
The incident reportedly took place on Friday, prompting an administrative probe that led to the teacher’s transfer. According to officials, the teacher from Government Sharda Girls Higher Secondary School in the Bada Ganpati area took five students to a toilet and demanded they strip after a mobile phone rang in class.
Parents lodged a complaint at Malharganj police station, alleging the girls were also beaten during the search.
Collector Ashish Singh stated that the teacher accused of indecent behavior has been removed from the school and reassigned to the district education office. The investigation is ongoing, and further action will be taken based on the findings.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Alok Kumar Sharma added that a woman police officer will record the students’ statements as part of the investigation into the complaint against the teacher.
