The Teaching, Learning, and Technology Center (TLTC) is excited to introduce its latest initiative, a podcast series titled “Innovate and Educate.” Hosted by Kate Sierra, an Instructional Designer at the TLTC, and produced by Digital Media Specialist Michael Pisciotta, the podcast delves into how technology is transforming teaching and boosting student success across higher education.
Each episode of the “Innovate and Educate” podcast is designed to be concise yet impactful, running approximately 20 minutes. The focus of each installment is to tackle key questions in educational technology (EdTech), offering listeners practical advice, real-world examples, and expert perspectives on tech integration. These insights are crafted to be easily applied in classrooms, academic departments, and across institutions.
Kate Sierra explains the inspiration behind the podcast, saying, “Seton Hall faculty kept sharing how technology helped foster creativity and practical skills in their courses, along with updates on how it improved student outcomes and engagement. Although they’ve collaborated with the TLTC in various workshops and showcases, we saw the podcast as an opportunity to share these ideas more broadly, both on campus and beyond.”
The inaugural episode, “What EdTech Successfully Transformed Student Outcomes in Your Course(s)?”, features Seton Hall instructors discussing their successful use of EdTech tools. These firsthand stories from Seton Hall’s campuses highlight how educational technology can be applied in diverse ways and at any stage of tech integration, making it accessible and effective for educators across the board.
Future episodes of “Innovate and Educate” will showcase other faculty members and their creative uses of technology in the classroom, including virtual reality, WordPress blogging, and assignments that prioritize “Student Voice and Choice.” With a new episode dropping on the last Thursday of every month, the podcast is set to become a valuable resource for educators seeking innovative ways to improve student learning.
Renee Cicchino, Director of Instructional Technology, shared her enthusiasm for the podcast, stating, “Our faculty are doing so many creative things in their courses. We’re excited to share these innovations and best practices with the university community and beyond.”
Educators looking to stay up-to-date on the latest EdTech trends and strategies are encouraged to listen and subscribe to the “Innovate and Educate” podcast, available on Seton Hall University’s website.
