In a devastating incident on Thursday, two school students lost their lives and three others were critically injured when their school bus collided head-on with a government bus in Kapagal, Raichur district. The accident involved a bus carrying 42 students on its way to a private school, according to police reports.
“Two students have died, three are in critical condition, and several others have sustained serious injuries. The injured are receiving treatment at a nearby hospital,” a police officer informed PTI.
Tragically, some of the children lost their limbs in the accident, according to police sources. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and announced that the injured children will receive free medical treatment. The families of the deceased will also be compensated by the state government. “I share the grief of the parents who have lost their children,” he said.
Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries H D Kumaraswamy also expressed his sorrow, describing the event as heartbreaking. He urged the state government to ensure that all medical expenses are covered and immediate relief is provided to the affected families. He also emphasized the importance of following road safety rules to prevent such tragedies in the future.
