In a deeply saddening turn of events, a third-year LLB student from National Law University, Delhi, was found dead by suicide on Monday. Her body was discovered in her hostel room on Tuesday afternoon, alongside a suicide note, as reported by The Indian Express.

The suicide note, which was left by the student, expressed no blame towards others and contained apologies to her parents for her drastic decision. According to police reports, Additional DCP (Dwarka) Nishant Gupta stated that the student, originally from Chennai, had been grappling with academic stress and had previously shared her suicidal thoughts with her roommates in April. Following this, her family had taken her to Chennai for a week, as alerted by her roommates.

The student’s parents are expected to arrive today. The body is currently in the mortuary, and a post-mortem examination is scheduled for today. This tragic event underscores the severe impact of academic pressure on students and highlights the importance of mental health support.

In a separate and equally tragic incident, a 24-year-old MBBS student from Silchar Medical College and Hospital in Assam was found hanging in his residence on September 3. The police reported that two handwritten notes, confirmed by the family as written by the student, were recovered from the scene. The notes expressed remorse to his mother and conveyed that no one should be held responsible for his death.
